Vintage Wedding Dresses
If you’re considering a vintage wedding dress, you’re not alone. Vintage is becoming a popular trend, growing perhaps as a backlash against the super-modern (at the time) styles of the 1980′s. Many women are looking to romantic, vintage wedding dress styles to complete old-fashioned wedding day plans.
Traditionally vintage means an item that is at least 30 years old, but inall practicality any dress that is from another generation can be considered a vintage wedding gown – the older, the better.
Many women want to feel a connection with the women who went before them; their grandmother’s wedding dress is a cherished memento and they consider it an honor to wear it. Other women are simply looking for a unique and one-of-a-kind effect, eschewing the cookie-cutter wedding gowns available in salons. Whatever your reasons, a vintage wedding gown is sure to make a memorable statement on your special day.

Where to Find a Vintage Wedding Gown
If you don’t have a grandmother or mother who has a lovely vintage dress for you to wear, try asking around; possibly your friends or more distant relatives can help in your search. Many women of older generations would be tickled pink to have someone wear their beloved dress, and many keep theirs tucked away as keepsakes. You can also try vintage clothing shops and second-hand boutiques, as well as possibly putting an ad in a newspaper or searching auctions and ads such as those on ebay.
Remember, too, that a vintage wedding gown can be altered or added to just like any other wedding dress, making it perfect for you in fit and style.
