Inexpensive Wedding Favors
For many brides, the money required to plan and execute the wedding of their dreams becomes a large burden. This situation is all too common, as every woman wants to have the ‘perfect’ wedding, and have it look and feel as decadent as possible, and the little things definitely add up.
The good news is, you CAN have a beautiful, elegant wedding for less money than you may realize. Doing a little homework can make all the difference, as well as can knowing the tricks of the trade and being armed with a little negotiating savvy.
When it comes to wedding favors, also know as bonbonniere, the costs can definitely escalate, as you need to provide one for every couple who attends your wedding. These are used as little thank you gifts for your guests, and can be as simple as a small tulle bag of candies to an expensive piece of silver or china.
Your first line of defence in not spending too much money on your wedding favors is to remember that it’s the thought that counts. Your guests are there to enjoy your celebration with you, not to receive a gift. Any thank you will be appreciated, especially if it’s heartfelt.
One way to come up with ideas for inexpensive wedding favors is to think outside the box. With candies, for example, many confectionaries can be used to create a favor – chocolate covered almonds, jelly beans, etc. – and you need not break the bank. Wedding favor companies will charge more for ‘wedding’ candies, so skip the wedding companies and source candy on your own. You’ll save a bundle! Box it with a pretty ribbon or fill tulle bags, and you have a lovely and elegant little inexpensive wedding favor.
You could also try home décor companies, where you’ll find great ideas for small gifts you can offer as favors. Items such as candles or holders would be perfect. Again, you will often save money just by shopping at a ‘normal’ store rather than a bridal specialty shop. Many of these companies will offer a bulk discount as well, but you have to ASK. Never be afraid to ask for discounts. It’s your wedding!
